Melana is a traditional Tsakonikos settlement with about 300 permanent residents.
Built on the slope of Parnonas, at an altitude of 200 m, breathtaking views, the Argolic Gulf and the Myrtoo Pelagos.
Residents as well as Tyro speak Tsakonikas.
It consists of two districts. Between the two neighborhoods is the church of Panagia celebrating 15 August.
It is a lively village with its Cultural Association to carry out many and varied events while preserving the folklore elements of Tsakonia, dancing, dialect, and the art of textiles.
The Tsakonian tradition is preserved in the Folklore Museum of the village.
The visitor has the opportunity to admire the handicrafts and the main utensils of everyday use of Tsakonas.
