It’s a rapidly developing tourist resort, that every year many tourists prefer for their vacation, in order to enjoy the clean beaches of the 18 km long coastline.
The visitors will find here hotels and rent rooms of all categories, malls, restaurants and cafe-bars for any taste. The three windmills located on the top of the rock, steeply dip into the sea on the southern end of the harbor, which, after its recent extension is able to shelter even larger crafts, whose masts beautify the place and give a nice, islander touch.
Tyros is one of the ancients naval states of Eastern Peloponnesus, and the residents of Tyros are inextricably bounded to the sea and the naval profession, keeping on a long tradition. It lies indolently on the slope and reaches the sea at a wonderful bay, with a beach 2 km long just on the waves, where you can take a nice walk breathing the sea breeze.
In Tyros, every Easter one of the most famous Greek traditions takes place.
On Good Friday a procession of the Epitaph is held on the coastal road of the town.
On Easter Saturday evening a ceremonial burning of an effigy of Judas by the sea is organized and the bay of the town is filled with thousands of candles that symbolize the souls of lost sailors and fishermen of Tyros.
