The road that leads from Leonidio to Laconia undoubtedly evokes emotions. The wild beauty and splendor of the mountain, generously gifted by nature in the area are awe inspiring.
Paleochori is a traditional settlement with ancient history which can be a daily getaway from Leonidio. The natural environment is rich in creeks, firs and cedars, springs, running waters, caves and caverns (Tristomo, Alikousi, Propandas). There are important Mycenaean antiquities in the area, the monastery of the Taxiarchis Mouria burned by the Ibrahim and a couple of old watermills.

After Paleochori the road leads to Agio Vasili and Kastanitsa. Between Agio Vasili and Platanaki at the site of Kasto there is a fortified settlement which is identified by archaeological excavations with Ancient Gluppia.
